Draw keeps Colón at top of Primera standings

Colón de Santa Fe picked up the point they needed to draw level with Estudiantes at the summit of the Final Championship, after an uninspiring clash with Belgrano this afternoon finished in a 0-0 deadlock.

The Sabalero at times managed to impose their intense style on an otherwise even match with few chances, but the home side were unable to unsettle their rivals, who aside from defending a handful of crosses and long-range efforts were in little danger of defeat.

The key objective for Colón remains avoiding relegation, a mission that looks ever more likely as they continue to pick up points. It was Belgrano, however, who had one of the clearest chances to take victory.

Forward César Pereyra had the ball in the net for the Pirata, only to see referee Néstor Pitana rule out the effort for a supposed infraction as 'Picante' converted with an overhead kick.

The game was also suspended for several minutes after one of the assistant referees was struck with an object thrown from the home terrace, the offender later identified by surrounding fans and held by police.

The draw means Colón move on to 26 points, a total that gives the Santa Fe side a share of the top spot alongside Estudiantes. River Plate and Gimnasia de La Plata, meanwhile, can both overtake the current leaders if they win their respective fixtures.
