Senator Fernández robbed in Gerli

Victory Front senator Aníbal Fernández was last night the victim of an armed assault in the Gerli district of Greater Buenos Aires, where thieves obliged the politician to leave his vehicle which was subsequently taken and found later in the City neighbourhood of Constitución.

"The senator was alone in his car, without bodyguards, when he was intercepted at gunpoint, forced to cross the street and his car was taken," spokespersons for the Kirchnerite politician told Noticias Argentinas.

After the robbery, Fernández "went to a service station, made a police complaint and called a taxi to take him to his home," in the City of Buenos Aires.

The sources added that the senator was not physically harmed and that the vehicle, a BMW, was found "one and a half hours later, in Constitution," after being located via a satellite tracking device.

Nobody has currently been held in connection with the robbery.
