Vélez spoils chance to top Final Tournament, loses to Racing 1-0

Vélez Sarsfield lost today against Racing 1-0 at José Amalfitani stadium in a match for the 12th round of the Final Tournament, spoiling its chance to top the League table as leader Colón de Santa Fe lost earlier today to Lanús.

Vélez dominated the ball for the most part of the game but missed the chances to score, while Racing played a good defense and took the 3 points with an agonic and spectacular goal by forward Luciano Vietto at 46 minutes of the second half.

With the result, Vélez remains in the second position of the League table with 20 points, one point behind Colón.

The Santa Fe squad lost earlier today 1-0 against Lanús in Buenos Aires.

The only goal of the match was scored during the first minute of the game by Víctor Ayala.

With the win, Lanús climbed to the 5th position with 19 points.
