River Plate coach Ramón Díaz said yesterday that the team “is growing every day and has a different spirit” after winning its last three games against Lanús, Boca Juniors and Newell’s Old Boys, but added those results are “not enough” to clinch the title.

“It’s not enough what we’ve done. The achievement should be from now until the end. We are on the right path, but in Argentine soccer you could be hit if you don’t stay alert,” said Díaz in a press conference yesterday.

After insisting that the players are excited about the club’s present, Díaz praised them for beating the “four best clubs in the championship: San Lorenzo, Lanús, Boca and Newell’s.”

River will visit Belgrano in Córdoba tomorrow for the 12th round of the Final Tournament and the coach did not confirm the first team for face its rival.

However, if the players arrives fully fit, the team will be: Marcelo Barovero; Gabriel Mercado, Jonatan Maidana, Éder Álvarez Balanta, Leonel Vangioni; Carlos Carbonero, Cristian Ledesma, Ariel Rojas, Manuel Lanzini; Teófilo Gutiérrez and Fernando Cavenaghi.

Meanwhile, Juan Román Riquelme will return to Boca Juniors’ first team tomorrow when it hosts Godoy Cruz at La Bombonera stadium.

After missing the 2-1 defeat at Rosario Central on Wednesday due to an injury, the former Argentina international playmaker recovered and trained normally yesterday.

Pablo Ledesma also was part of the practice yesterday and is available for tomorrow’s match.

Boca accumulates four matches without victories and has 12 points after 11 games. Leader Colón, which visits Lanús today at 7.15pm, has 21, while River is one above and shares the second place.

Vélez Sarsfield and Racing will play today at 8.30 at the José Amalfitani stadium.

Also, Newell’s’ Maximiliano Rodríguez will miss the Rosario derby tomorrow between his team and Rosario Central as he did not recover from his injury on time.

Apparently, Alexis Castro will take his place, but coach Alfredo Berti did not confirm the team yet.
