Riquelme out of Central match with muscle injury

Beleaguered Boca Juniors have received further bad news following home defeat to River Plate in the Superclásico, after hearing that playmaker Juan Román Riquelme will miss their next match with a muscular injury.

The 35-year-old star, who scored Boca's only goal in yesterday's 2-1 reverse to the club's arch-rivals, is suffering from a minor strain in his left leg, having failed to complete the 90 minutes against River.

Coach Carlos Bianchi had admitted following the game that Román had requested the substitution, and he will now have to face a trip to Rosario against Rosario Central without the talismanic figure.

Riquelme has played six games in the current Final championship, five of them from the start, after recovering from an abductor tear suffered in November 2013.
