BA teachers announce 'torch' rally as wage conflict reaches deadlock
Following yesterday’s news that Buenos Aires province teachers will continue to strike till the Daniel Scioli administration “improves” the 30.9-percent salary offer, head of the Suteba education union Roberto Baradel announced a torch rally for Sunday.
The demonstration scheduled to talke place in several squares across the Buenos Aires province will be “in defence of public schools,” Baradel told reporters today and to “demand the resolution” of the wage conflict that has already reached day 16 in Argentina’s most populated province.
The Suteba Secretary General considered the crisis a “very difficult, complex situation.”
“I hope it can be resolved in the upcoming days. This is an unfair situation, we are carrying out such a force measure to demand something that is basic, not losing our purchase power and more investment in Buenos Aires province schools,” Baradel affirmed.
