US dollar down half cent at 8.01 pesos

The US dollar closed half a cent lower in Buenos Aires City's main banks and foreign exchange offices, closing with a price of 7.96 pesos (buying) and 8.01 pesos (selling) in the official markets.

Yesterday, the American currency broke the barrier of 8 pesos for the first time since February 4, the Central Bank having kept the exchange rate below that mark through changes in monetary and banking policies.

The blue dollar that trades in the informal market remained steady today at 10.90 pesos.
