Inter's young Argentine striker Mauro Icardi found the net in the first half for his fourth goal of the season, but it was insufficient for the struggling Italian giants as they went down 2-1 at home to Atalanta.

The Rosario native, 21, pulled the Nerazzurri back into the game with his equaliser in the 36th minute. Icardi celebrated with a t-shirt bearing a dedication for fiancée, Wanda Nara, the legend stating "Wan I love you".

But having taken the lead when Giacomo Bonaventura converted ex-Racing and Vélez Sarsfield star Maxi Moralez's pass, Atalanta stole all three points in injury time when Bonaventura hit home his second of the afternoon.

Icardi and Moralez, who was forced off with a knock in the first half, were just two of several Argentine participants in the clash. Hugo Campagnaro, Esteban Cambiasso, Rodrigo Palacio and Ricardo Álvarez lined up for the home team, while Moralez was accompanied by ex-Independiente hitman Germán Denis in the visiting line-up.

Inter remain fifth in the Serie A table, no less than 28 points behind leaders Juventus and trailing Napoli, who occupy the last Champions League qualification spot, by 11.
