Vélez beat The Strongest 2-0, top group
Vélez Sarsfield beat today Bolivian team The Strongest 2-0 in a match for the fourth round of the Libertadores Cup group stage played at José Amalfitani stadium in Liniers. With the victory, Vélez tops Group 1 with 9 points, followed by The Strongest with 6 points.
The Stongest displayed a well-organized defense and was minutes away of achieving a historical tie in Argentina, but Vélez won the match over the end of the second half, with goals by Lucas Pratto and Jorge Correa.
Vélez will travel to Brazil for the Group’s next round to play Atlético Paranaense, and try to seal it's pass to the last sixteen stage.
