BA province teachers reject wage hike order: 'We will not stop fighting'
The head of the FEB teachers' union Mirta Petrocini came on stage today to reject the Buenos Aires government’s decision of paying March wages with a 30.9 percent hike. “It would be another broken promise of the government which said it would favour the dialogue,” she told reporters and pledged: "We will not stop fighting."
Earlier, Buenos Aires province Cabinet Chief Alberto Perez warned the government will order a 30.9 percent hike to be applied to march salaries, a raise that was offered by authorities but rejected by unions. He added in April “we will start implementing discounts.”
“We will make the administrative decisions to liquidate salaries including the raise; and as of next month, when we receive the pay sheets of each principal with the absences of these first days, we will apply discounts. Those who didn’t work these days will not be paid,” he fired.
