US VP Biden greets CFK in chile

President Cristina Kirchner and US Vice-President Joe Biden greeted each other during the farewell dinner for outgoing Chilean President Sebastián Piñera on Monday evening in Santiago. The meeting between President Kirchner and President Obama’s representative at the inauguration comes after a topsy-turvy week in US-Argentine relations. Last week, the Obama administration was admitted as “friend of the court” on behalf of Argentine interests against “vulture funds” but it also released a report that criticized Argentina’s anti-narcotics policies. Foreign Minister Timerman vociferously responded in kind by saying the United States was not in a position to criticize anyone.
