Teachers: Government mulls new pay offer

While in six provinces, some five million children could not start school yet due to an ongoing strike, Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich praised the “mandatory conciliation order which allows the dialogue to continue” and confirmed wage talks with unions will be resumed on Wednesday.

In his daily press conference, the chief of staff admitted the government is exploring other alternatives after teachers rejected a 31 percent pay increase offer which would have been paid in four installments, the last one, in June, 2015. The government is analyzing to bring the final installment forward to December this year.
