'Sooner than later we will discuss Malvinas' sovereignty with UK'

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner renewed Argentina’s demands for talks with the United Kingdom to discuss the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands, seized by the British in 1833.

“Rather sooner than later we will be able to discuss the sovereignty question as the United Nations demand and have the United Kingdom sit to negotiate,” the head of state affirmed during her Saturday address in Congress where she kicked off the 132nd period of ordinary sessions.

With the South Atlantic bilateral dispute becoming a key issue of the government' foreign policy in recent years – mainly since London strengthened its hydrocarbon agenda in the resource-rich archipelago in 2010-, the head of state announced a Malvians Museum is expected to be ready for its inauguration in June in the ex ESMA Navy Mechanics' School building.
