AFIP appeals Despegar’s preliminary injunction, presents note before SEC

An official from the AFIP tax bureau foreclosing Despegar.com offices yesterday afternoon.

The Federal Administration of Public Incomes (AFIP) appealed today the preliminary injunction presented by Despegar.com and delivered a note to US Securities and Exchange Commission explaining the case.

In the presentation, the tax bureau demanded Despegar to shut down their website during the judiciary procedure.

AFIP yesterday closed down Despegar.com’s offices in Buenos Aires over allegations it used its office in the US state of Delaware to evade Argentine profit taxes, but the company bounced back by obtaining a preliminary injunction and taking the opportunity to label AFIP’s decision “an act of bad faith.”
