Correa the key as San Lorenzo gain Libertadores triumph

Reigning Inicial champions San Lorenzo did just enough this evening to take down Independiente del Valle 1-0, recording their first victory in the 2014 Copa Libertadores and reaching four consecutive wins in all competitions.

The side directed by Edgardo Bauza did not show their best side during a tight clash at the Nuevo Gasometro, struggling against the Ecuadorians who are making their Libertadores debut this year.

While dominating control of the ball, the Cuervo had to wait until 10 minutes of the second half has passed to break through. Young sensation Ángel Correa further cemented his growing reputation by turning in a smart close-range shot, giving San Lorenzo a lead they did not relinquish.

TV mogul and San Lorenzo vice-president Marcelo Tinelli was in the crowd to watch his team reassert themselves in Group 2, following an early defeat to Botafogo. The Argentine institution lie second in their group behind the Brazilians with three points, and will next host Unión Española on March 12.
