Uruguayan artist Páez Vilaró dies at 90
Abstract artist, painter, potter, sculptor, muralist, writer, composer and constructor, he was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1923. He lived in Buenos Aires, where he worked as a printing apprentice.
During his career, he created murals and sculptures for varied government offices, corporate headquarters, private homes, and other buildings. Casapueblo, his "livable sculpture" is maybe his best-known creation. Situated near the touristic city of Punta del Este, in Uruguay, it has been a leading tourist destination since the late 1960s.
