San Lorenzo record another win to climb to Final summit

Defending Argentine champions San Lorenzo recorded their third consecutive win with a narrow reverse of relegation candidates Quilmes in Bajo Flores, confirming the Cuervo's intention to fight for the Final title and lift back-to-back championships.

Playmaker Ignacio Piatti made the difference for the home team at the start of the second half. Following fine work from Ángel Correa, who squared for his team-mate, Piatti was left with a simple header to record the only goal of the afternoon.

With nine points San Lorenzo move joint top of the Final alongside Estudiantes with nine points, albeit having played one game more. Quilmes lie rock bottom, having failed to pick up a single point in their four outings.

There was relief in Rosario, meanwhile, as Newell's Old Boys finally put a long winless streak behind them with a convincing 4-1 victory at home to Atletico Rafaela.

Alfredo Berti's charges had gone 12 matches without recording a competitive win, but after being held to a draw midweek went one better in the Estadio Marcelo Bielsa. Milton Casco, Fabián Muñoz, Victor Figueroa and Maxi Rodríguez were on target for a vastly-improved Lepra.

Rafaela's only cheer of the day came through Diego Vera, who converted from the penalty spot in the first half.
