Wage talks: no agreement between Government and teachers
In a press conference from the Education Ministry, Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich informed that no agreement has been reached between the two parts, although he anticipated that a second meeting with the teachers will take place on Monday.
“The Federal Government made its proposal but no agreement has been reached in this phase”, Capitanich announced.
“We decided to continue with the talks next week”, he added.
In addition, the official remarked the government’s historical spending in education, which represents “a 6,4 percent of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” assured Capitanich.
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner administration expressed it might set teacher’s salary increase by an executive decree.
In that sense, SUTEBA education union Roberto Baradel considered that “A raise by decree would be an awkward mistake. It would delegitimize collective bargaining talks, it would be senseless,” he complaint in an interview he granted to a radio station earlier this morning.
