Family of Schumacher insist 'he will not give up'

The family of seven-times Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher affirmed today that he would not give up, as the German remains in a coma after a serious skiing accident.

"We all know it: Michael is a figher and he will not give up!", the family wrote in a press statement released today, in which they also thanked fans and well-wishers for their support.

"We are really touched by the messages to get well soon for Michael, which are still being sent from around the world every day. That incredible support gives him, and us, great strength, the message explained.

The former Ferrari driver is in an induced coma in a Grenoble clinic, after suffering a ski accident on December 29 in the Méribel resort.

Schumacher hit his head on a rock and, despite wearing a helmet, suffered serious injuries from the impact.
