UK top official says ‘Argentina’s attitude towards Malvinas irrational, unpredictable’

Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Hugo Swire (Wikipedia)

The Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Hugo Swire blasted today Argentina’s policies towards the Malvinas Islands saying that the Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner’s administration is “irrational and unpredictable.”

“Ten years ago the relationship was much better, but with the Kirchner’s administrations things have changed”, said Swire in an interview with Uruguay news site Montevideo.com.uy.

“Argentines say they want to talk and discuss, but every time there is an opportunity to do so they disappear. They don’t want to talk to us, they don’t recognize our existence”, Swire added.

“If they talked to us, they would have a much better chance in negotiations. Maybe their attitude will change with a new Government”, he concluded.
