Mar del Plata group also benefits from approval

Also yesterday, AFSCA approved the adjustment plan presented by Mar del Plata’s media group La Capital led by local mogul Florencio Aldrey Iglesias, who owns all three AM stations of the seaside city — Mar del Plata, Atlántica and 1620. Aldrey also owns two important newspapers from Mar del Plata: La Capital (where he owns 90 percent of the shares) and El Atlántico, which until recently was run by the Olmos Group.

As the group’s indisputable dominant position in the local media market was at odds with the law, conglomerate members Juan Carlos Aldrey, Florencio Aldrey and Jorge Eduardo Aldrey submitted their own plan on November 28, 2012, to “correct” those incompatibilities by selling four radio stations to friends and aqcuantainces including Dolores Noya, Lauro Laiño and Marcelo Pasetti, vice-director of La Capital newspaper.
