Tenth fireman dies of injuries following Barracas blaze

The fire that hit an Iron Mountain warehouse in the City neighbourhood of Barracas has claimed its 10th victim, after it was confirmed that fireman Facundo Ambrosi today passed away due to injuries sustained in the tragedy.

"Facundo was raised in the division. He was a neighbour, a friend. He entered cadet school when he was still a kid. Facundo's entire life was one of solidarity," Antonio Sette, division chief of the Vuelta de Rocha volunteer fire brigade, La Boca, said of his colleague in today's press conference.

Ambrosi, 25, had been in the intensive care unit of the Hospital Argerich for 12 days after being caught under a collapsed part of the facility. Two further firefighters, Juan Manuel López Gaggiotti and Luis Díaz Gauna, continue receiving treatment after being hurt in the blaze which killed nine on February 5.

The member of the Vuelta de Rocha volunteer brigade suffered multiple fractures, and was also left with respiratory difficulties after sustaining lung damage.
