Bossi unleashes tsunami of singing, dancing, audience play
For The Herald
Martín Bossi’s award-studded career began early, when he was still a child, although at the time he shared his love for the stage with tennis, to the point that he started to teach and almost made the sport his profession. But he was also a natural comedian with a remarkable talent to imitate friends, acquaintances and showbiz people. He started to study communication but eventually dropped out and began taking acting classes. He graduated as he staged private musical shows in which his talent became increasingly conspicuous and got him in touch with several professionals.
Then his acting and singing career began to develop to a point that he started to earn top prizes and increasing public acceptance on stage, film and TV, which made him the star of two successful, important music hall shows on Corrientes street. Those hits are now followed by a third one, the Bossi Bing Bang Show, which is playing to full houses. This time, Bossi engages tirelessly in what he does best: performing as an actor and a singer, impersonating and singing John Lennon, Ray Charles, Elton John, Adrián Otero, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Migel Abuelo, Frank Sinatra, Queen, Elton John. But his singing is not only based on amazing impersonations of other singers: his voice actually sounds exactly like theirs.
Bossi also brought back Carlos Balá, Pepe Biondi, Tato Bores, Javier Portales , Alberto Olmedo and Graciela Borges. On opening night, Adriana Brodsky was invited on stage and, with Jorge “Carna” Crivelli as Javier Portales, and they recreated the famous, hilarious sketch of La Bebota. The late Portales had been the memorable sidekick of the also late Olmedo on TV, a much loved pair of actors. And Bossi is now filming Olmedo’s life. Surely Carna must be in the film too, for he looks and sounds increasingly like Portales. He and Bossi cut out a truly moving scene in the memory of the actors.
Sure enough, in all this tsunami of activity, singing, running, dancing, playing with the audience, a couple of breathers are needed. And Bossi found in Manuel Wirtzt the ideal, reliable candidate, for both have worked together before and Wirzt is the excellent musical director, comedian and singer the chorus and band need. In all, a memorable evening.
