Bianchi: I won’t hurry Riquelme
Ramón Díaz confirms River’s team without Maidana
Carlos Bianchi said that we will not hurry Juan Román Riquelme’s recovery and added that Boca cannot depend only on him. River Plate coach, Ramón Díaz, confirmed the first team without Jonatan Maidana, who suffered an injury yesterday.
Boca Juniors coach, Carlos Bianchi, said yesterday that he will not hurry the return of Juan Román Riquelme to the first team after the playmaker suffered a couple of injuries.
“Román’s injury was very serious. I won’t hurry his recovery and I don’t want him to do it. He has to know that the day he returns to the field he has to have more chances of playing right,” said Bianchi in a press conference at the Pedro Pompilio facilities. “We cannot depend on Román; we can also play without him.”
Boca will repeat the same team that drew 0-0 against Newell’s Old Boys last week in Rosario to host Belgrano at La Bombonera stadium tomorrow.
New signing Diego Perotti, who has not made his debut yet, trained alone and, apparently, he will be included in the squad for the fourth round against Estudiantes de La Plata. Riquelme will probably return for that match.
Boca’s team will be: Agustín Orion; Hernán Grana, Daniel Díaz, Juan Forlín, Nahuel Zárate; Cristian Erbes, Fernando Gago, Pablo Ledesma, Juan Manuel Sánchez Miño; Juan Manuel Martínez and Emmanuel Gigliotti.
Meanwhile, Ramón Díaz confirmed River Plate’s team to visit Rosario Central tomorrow, but central defender Jonatan Maidana, who early yesterday suffered a muscle fatigue and could not finish the training session, was sidelined from the squad.
“We know that Maidana is OK and there are still two days left before Sunday,” said the coach in a press conference. However, the club doctors discovered that Maidana picked up an injury and will not be available for the match against Central. Germán Pezzella will probably take his place.
Colombian midfielder Carlos Carbonero will return to the team after missing the first round. He will take Augusto Solari’s place. River’s team will be: Marcelo Barovero; Gabriel Mercado, Pezzella, Éder Álvarez Balanta; Carbonero, Leonardo Ponzio, Matías Kranevitter, Leonel Vangioni; Manuel Lanzini; Teófilo Gutiérrez and Fernando Cavenaghi.
At the Malvinas Argentinas stadium in Mendoza, Godoy Cruz defeated Quilmes 2-0 yesterday with goals scored by Gonzalo Castellani and Claudio Aquino in the 24th and 31st minutes, respectively.
