Increase in school-age children allowance made official
The raise in the allowance for families with school-age children that takes the benefit from 170 to 510 pesos has been made official. The decision was announced last week by President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and published today in the official gazette.
The 185 decree that has been signed by Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich and Labour Minister Carlos Tomada, establishes that the allowance will be cashed at the beginning of school year activities reaching more than 3 million children aged 5-17. Beneficiaries –families that earn less than 30,000 pesos- will have to present children’s certificate of registered student status with expiration date on December 31 each year.
The move involves an investment of 1,558 million pesos accounting for an increase of 45.8 percent compared to last year's payments.
