Government condemns 'destabilising efforts' in Venezuela after deaths

"Finally, the Argentine Republic laments that these incidents have caused several deaths and injuries, and awaits an investigation that determines those who are responsible for them," the statement concludes. (TÉLAM)
The Argentine government has condemned what it terms "clear efforts of destablisation" in Venezuela, following yesterday's clashes which left three dead and 23 injured on the streets of Caracas.

"After recent events in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Argentine government reiterates its strong support for the constitutional government elected by the citizens of that country, and notes the clear efforts of destabilisation that confront institutional order in our brother nation," the Foreign Office signalled through a press statement today.

The ministry headed by Héctor Timerman added that "a priority duty for the region's democracies" is that of encouraging "active solidarity and common defence against the actions of authoritarian groups, corporations and those linked to financial and product speculation that want to govern de facto, impose their sectional interests and overthrow legitimate governments supported by popular will."

"Finally, the Argentine Republic laments that these incidents have caused several deaths and injuries, and awaits an investigation that determines those who are responsible for them," the statement concludes.
