Riquelme could be on the bench
Juan Román Riquelme trained alone again yesterday during Boca Juniors’ practice session and, apparently, coach Carlos Bianchi could put him on the bench for the Final Tournament second round match against Belgrano at La Bombonera stadium at 9.30pm on Sunday.
The last time Riquelme was among the substitutes was on December 4, 2011, when Boca clinched the Apertura tournament title after beating Banfield 3-0, and the playmaker entered the field to play some minutes and celebrate the title won by the team coached by Julio Falcioni by that time.
Yesterday, Riquelme trained as he had done on Tuesday, with some exercises with the ball. His last match was on November 24 last year when Boca lost 2-0 against All Boys and the midfielder suffered an injury that kept him off the field for more than two months.
The club’s medical staff will carry out some final tests tomorrow to know if Riquelme can be included in the first team. However, the chances are limited, because today the team will make the formal soccer practice of the week and Riquelme is not included.
