Government announces new rail service administration regime
The administration of Mitre, San Martín, Roca and Belgrano Sur rail companies will be handed over to Metrovías and Ferrovías rail companies, according to a resolution published this morning on the official gazette.
Until today, these companies had a shared responsibility with the government on the administration of such lines.
The government, which once took over these rail companies from other private holders, will now be in charge of controlling the service through SOFSE state rail operator.
"It is necessary to adequate the agreements of operation of rail lines Mitre, General Roca, General San Martín and Belgrano Sur, in order to establish clear rules and accentuate the control and responsibility of the public service operator with the aim at verifying the observance of its obligations,” the resolution says adding the protection of the users’ rights is a priority, as well as an efficient and safe service, and the control transparency.
