US dollar steady at 7.82 pesos, 'blue' at 11.65
The US dollar closed steady today at Buenos Aires City banks and exchange offices at 7.82 pesos. Greenbacks have registered a 17-cent-and-a-half drop over the past five days after the devaluation that took the American currency to hit 8 pesos.
Meanwhile, the so called “blue” dollar that trades in the parallel market closed unchanged at 11.65 pesos after dropping yesterday 50 cents fuelled by a lower demand for the greenbaks since the government decided to ease the purchase of foreign currencies back on January 24.
In addition, Central Bank reserves went up US$17 million to US$27.75M, while AFIP informed that US$7 million were sold for "saving purposes", reaching US$190M since January 27 when exchange rates regime was eased.
