'Football for Everyone' launch suspended after Barracas fire

Ernesto Cherquis Bialo (R) informs AFA president Julio Grondona of the fire in Barracas, which led to today''s cancellation.
Argentine Football Association (AFA) spokesman Ernesto Cherquis Bialo confirmed that the launch of the revamped 'Football for Everyone' programming would be suspended, in respect for those who lost their lives in a tragic fire which hit the neighbourhood of Barracas.

The presentation, in which alterations to the production which carries transmission of all Argentina's Primera Division games, was put on hold after nine people lost their lives in the factory blaze. According to Cherquis, it was "not the right time" to make the announcement.

Several changes to the program's reporting line-up have already been confirmed. Star commentator Marcelo Araujo will not form part of the team for the coming season, with the biggest matches going to Sebastián Vignolo and Diego Latorre.

Commentators Mariano Closs and Juan Pablo Varsky, both highly respected in local football are expected to partner up as another team.

Changes are also expected in the areas of management and commercial activity; negotiations have already begun with private companies to sell advertising space, with the aim of off-setting some of the costs of the government-funded project.

The new-look 'Football for Everyone' will premiere this Friday, when Estudiantes host Arsenal de Sarandi in La Plata to open the 2014 Final tournament.
