US dollar ends lower at 8.015 pesos

The US dollar today dropped one cent to close at 8.015 pesos in banks and exchange offices in Buenos Aires City, after remaining roughly unchanged last week when the government relaxed foreign exchange controls.

The foreign currency rose 23 percent or 1.5 pesos in January.

In the black market, the dollar finished unchanged at 12.55 pesos after ending 10 cents lower yesterday.

The Central Bank's foreign currency reserves, meanwhile, continued to fall with further losses today. A report from the financial entity revealed that funds had dipped below the 28 billion dollar mark, with losses of 95 million dollars over the day leaving totals at US$27.91bn.
