January tax revenues reach record $90bn

The Federal Administratrion of Public Incomes (AFIP) has revealed that tax revenue in January reached a new record, recording a total of 90.3 billion pesos to rise 37.5 percent compared to the previous year.

In January 2013 takings were 65.69bn pesos, while in the same month of 2012 the AFIP received $52.84bn.

Income generated through social security payments made up 28.18bn pesos, rising 31.4 percent. Local value-added taxes contributed a further $27.22bn, while income taxes registered a 46.9 percent rise to take a total of $18.37bn.

The figures were announced today by AFIP chief Ricardo Echegaray, who spoke in a press conference alongside Economy Ministry secretary Juan Carlos Pezoa.
