Police warn 40 ‘arbolitos’ to stop illegal dollar trade
The Federal Police has warned 40 “arbolito” sellers to stop illegal dollar trade at Florida Street, in an operation authorised by the Security Ministry to prevent the contravention of foreign currency exchange laws.
The Force issued written statements to the offenders, and warned them that by trading dollars at an unofficial rate they could be breaking Law 19,359, which states that “all exchange negotiations done without the intervention of an authorized institution will be repressed”.
The procedure was carried out by the Bank Fraud Division of the Federal Police, and supervised by Security Secretary Sergio Berni.
