San Lorenzo beats River 3-1 to win 'Copa Salta'

Angel Correa scored the second goal for San Lorenzo (TÉLAM)

San Lorenzo today beat River Plate 3-1 in a friendly match held at Padre Martearena stadium in Salta city and won the "Copa Salta". The match was to be played yesterday, but got suspended due to heavy rain.

River inmediately opened the match, with Fernando Cavenaghi scoring at 34 seconds of the first half. However, San Lorenzo managed to reverse the score with authority: at 31 minutes of the first half Néstor Ortigoza evened the match with a penalty kick, Ignacio Piatti then scored at 50 seconds of the second half and Angel Correa sealed the match for “los cuervos”.

With the win, San Lorenzo, last argentine champion, ended River’s summer winning streak, who played with a substitute team.
