CFK attends CELAC summit opening
President Kirchner was attending the official opening of the II Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States that is taking place in Havana. Cuban Raúl Castro was in charge of delivering the inaugurating address.
Official activities started around noon, followed by schedule meetings between regional leaders.
CELAC head of states are expected to work on a broad agenda with Argentina already securing its allies support to the country’s sovereignty claims over the Malvinas Islands and its demand for peace talks with the UK.
The attending presidents will be also analyzing the possibility to grant Porto Rican pro-independence movements the CELAC observer status as well as discussing food safety policies, poverty fight and ties between sovereign countries and transnational companies.
