12 confirmed dead after Catamarca storm, some of missing located

The Catamarca Emergency Committee reported that 12 people have died and a total of 25 were reported missing, following a violent storm that hit parts of the province on Thursday.

An update later today, however, revealed that 12 of those searched for had been located, and were uninjured by the natural disaster.

Emergency Committee spokesman Norberto Bazán confirmed that in the middle of the tragedy, more than half of those who had been reported as missing yesterday evening had been found.

Those located were individuals who had lost contact with family members in the middle of the tragedy and it was feared could add to the number of those who lost their lives in the storm.

But after an intense search conducted by professionals in the aftermath of the storm, authorities were able to confirm that they were in good health and inform worried families.

"This was a disaster, but we are going to rebuild all the affected areas," Governor Lucía Corpacci stated, while referring to the victims of the storms and the situation in summer resort El Rodeo, where 25 people are still being looked for.
