Moyano untroubled by Massa, Scioli absences

Teamsters leader Hugo Moyano has assured that the absences of Buenos Aires governor Daniel Scioli and national lawmaker Sergio Massa will not affect a landmark meeting with Luis Barrionuevo, as the union heavyweights prepare for talks.

Moyano, head of the Azopardo faction of the General Workers' Confederation (CGT), will tomorrow meet with his rival, who leads the 'White and Blue' grouping of the union. Antonio Caló, leader of the CGT faction still allied with the national government, will not be in attendance.

Both Massa and Scioli had been invited to witness talks aimed at unifying the CGT; but Moyano was certain that the politicians' decision not to attend would not affect proceedings.

"This does not change the agenda that will be worked on. The fact that the politicians are not coming does not alter what we have already resolved in principle," the teamsters chief explained today.

"The key to this discussion is to discuss the unity of the workers' movement and workers demands," he maintained, adding that gastronomic figurehead Barrionuevo would be the host of the upcoming summit.
