Pope Francis receives SC president Lorenzetti
Pope Francis met Supreme Court head Ricardo Lorenzetti at the Santa Marta residency today. The picture of the Vatican gathering was released by the Center of Judicial Information controlled by Argentina’s top tribunal.
Ties between the Argentine pontiff and Lorenzetti are not new. When then Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio was chosen to lead the world’s 1.2 billion Catholics, the judge sent a letter to the new pope congratulating him on his appointment.
Francis replied the letter with a six-paragraph message that said the service to people is linked “to the continuous search of giving people what belongs to them at all times,” also advising Lorenzetti “not to lose his spirit” in the face of “difficulties, risks or temptations.”
