Pope Francis meets with DAIA to deepen inter-religious dialogue
The Supreme Pontiff met today with representatives of the argentine Jewish community in the Vatican to deepen inter-religious dialogue. The meeting was qualified as “transcendent” and “historical” by both parts.
“I welcome you to the Vatican and I hope this gathering will help grow the relationship between these two brother-religions”, Pope Francis said prior to the meeting, which lasted over two hours and a half.
The DAIA delegation was headed by executive director of the Jewish Latin-American Congress, Claudio Epelman, and DAIA president Julio Schlosser.
Francis and the Jewish delegation ate a special kosher meal prepared for the occasion, and to close the meeting they sang together in Hebrew psalm 133, which states: “There is nothing more beautiful that to see brothers live in peace and harmony”.
