Borghi to coach Argentinos

New Argentinos Juniors coach Claudion Borghi.

Claudio Borghi reached a deal with the Argentinos Juniors officials and will become the club’s new coach with the aim of keeping the team in the first division.

Borghi, who led Argentinos to its last local title in the Clausura 2010, will arrive at the club on January 4 and will start the preseason.

Hernán Torres will join Borghi as the physical trainer, while Carlos San Martín will be the goalkeepers trainer.

Argentinos President Luis Segura confirmed yesterday that they “have reached a deal with Borghi’s manager” Fernando Felicevich and that he will start to work on January 4.

“I want to thank ‘Bichi’ (Borghi). This is a tough time and we need him. He comes to give us a hand,” said Segura.

Borghi will replace Ricardo Caruso Lombardi, who resigned when the Initial Tournament ended.

Argentinos, which finished in 13th place in the championship with 25 points, eight behind champion San Lorenzo, joins the last place of the relegation average standings with Godoy Cruz.

“We are complicated with the relegation average,” added Segura, making clear that Borghi’s objective is to leave Argentinos in the first division.
