Buenos Aires governor Daniel Scioli has highlighted the positive impact of today's agreement between provincial chiefs and the national government, which pledged to restructure the debts of 18 regions in Argentina.

In the province of Buenos Aires, Scioli pointed out, "this will impact in municipalities because it gives us the tools to take districts out of debt with more cooperation," as he spoke from Government House alongside cabinet chief Jorge Capitanich and economy minister Axel Kicillof.

"This combination of our own efforts to optimise genuine revenues, together with the Soya Fund and the Debt-reducing Programs allowed a considerable reduction in the proportion of debt in the Gross Product of our province," the governor added.

As well as Buenos Aires, the provinces of Chaco, Catamarca, Chubut, Córdoba, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Jujuy, La Rioja, Mendoza, Misiones, Neuquén, Río Negro, Salta, San Juan, Santa Cruz, Tucumán and Tierra del Fuego also signed the accord.
