Scocco’s arrival at River in doubt
River Plate officials cannot find the sponsors in order to sign striker Ignacio Scocco, who is in Inter of Porto Alegre and the Brazilian club wants 6.5 million dollars for the forward’s transfer.
While the return of Fernando Cavenaghi to River Plate is a fact, the arrival of Ignacio Scocco at the Núñez club is complicated as the officials cannot get sponsors.
“If we get one or two sponsors we will sign Scocco, but it’s complicated,” said one of the club officials.
Inter of Porto Alegre wants 6.5 million dollars for the striker’s transfer and does not want to loan him.
In the case that River fails to sign the former Newell’s Old Boys player, coach Ramón Díaz and the club officials do not have a “Plan B” yet.
However, the return of Cavenaghi was delayed due to economic differences, but both sides want to reach a deal. Apparently, the forward will sign next week.
Today at 12.30pm, Enzo Francescoli and Leonel Gancedo, two former River players, will be officially introduced with new charges in the club.
Meanwhile, Boca Juniors coach Carlos Bianchi wants to count on Juan Forlín and Hernán Grana to start the preseason with the rest of the squad on January 3 at the Pedro Pompilio facilities.
Forlín, who came from Al Rayyan of Qatar and also played in Espanyol of Spain, will return to the club where he made his debut and won the league championship in 2008.
Grana, who had a great season in All Boys, will sign his contract with Boca next Thursday and will join the squad the next day.
The players who could leave Boca are defenders Guillermo Burdisso and Matías Caruzzo, and midfielder Jesús Méndez. Burdisso could return on loan to Arsenal de Sarandí, Universidad de Chile is interested in Caruzzo and Méndez could return to Rosario Central.
