Gareca leaves Vélez

Five titles in four years. Ricardo Gareca resigns from Vélez. (TÉLAM)

Vélez Sarsfield coach Ricardo Gareca presented his “indeclinable resignation” today, after leading his team to five championships in four years.

According to Noticias Argentinas news agency, the resolution was communicated to Velez’s Manager Christian Bassedas, however many believe that the reason behind Gareca’s leaving, is his wiliness to join the members of the directive board that are going to conclude their campaign next year.

According to a speaker who was present in the meeting “the directives showed Gareca a shorter squad for the upcoming year, followed financial needs.”

Héctor Almandoz is pointed out as one of the alternatives for “El Fortín”, while a second option could be Omar Asad, a former scorer of the club who coached Godoy Cruz and San Lorenzo among others.
