Chinese supermarkets will sign new price accord

Executive Director of the Federation of Chinese Supermarkets and Associations in Argentina, Miguel Calvete, has affirmed that the organisation will sign a new price agreement with the government covering around 120 basic products.

"We will adhere to the price accord and this week an agreement with the government for around 120 products will be defined, which form part of the basic food basket," the chief explained today.,

Calvete explained that the price agreement "is a valid tool to act against inflation, but it does nothing to attack the causes."

He added that an improvement could be seen in the government department of Commerce, previously run by Guillermo Moreno.

"It can be seen clearly that there are different goals and we have maintained a fluid dialogue, they seem to understand a little more the importance of small retail businesses and the role that small businesses can play in production in order to combat price rises."
