Capitanich to businessmen: ‘Invest and stop speculating’

Cabinet Chief Jorge Capitanich today urged businessmen to “invest and stop speculating” in a press conference which moved from price controls, inflation, to wage talks being held with different sectors.

“Businessmen must invest. They shouldn’t be permanently generating pressure factors regarding the foreign exchange rate, among others,” he warned.

“Instead of speculating and use pesos to turn them into dollars, they must invest, then, we will create more employment and we will grow faster,” the chief of staff added.

He said wage talks should go through a path of “reasonableness” so we are able to face those salary increases and “preserve and increase the (salary) purchasing power.”

He, however, stressed “the main problem is the informal employment.”
