Yellow alert declared as City temperature hits 36°

The National Meteorological Service (SMN) has repeated a yellow health alert for the cities of Buenos Aires and Rosario as well as surrounding areas, reacting to a heat wave that continues to affect the region.

Residents of the City face a sweltering day, with some cloud cover and the possibility of isolated storms later in the afternoon or evening. The minimum temperature is predicted at 24° Celsius, with the maximum reaching 36°C, according to the SMN.

The organisation's report signalled that "the current status of the Alert System for Heat Waves and Health for the cities of Buenos Aires and Rosario and surrounding areas is still Yellow," and will be in force "for the whole of Sunday".

A yellow alert implies that "the heat wave could be dangerous, especially for babies and small children, people older than 65 or those who suffer chronic illnesses."

Maximum temperatures of 36 or 37° are also forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday, with temperatures finally dropping to a milder 28°C by Wednesday.
