Boca fan killed after Obelisk incidents

A Boja Juniors’ fan, who was heading back to the Buenos Aires province locality of Lanús after participating in yesterday’s demonstration at the Obelisk that marked the clubs’ “International Fans Day”, was shot to dead.

According to first official versions, 19-year-old Rafael Ruíz was allegedly attacked by strangers at the Lanús train station. The victim was shot in the head and transferred to the Gandulfo Hospital in the BA province district of Lomas de Zamora. He was already dead when he arrived at the medical center.

The violent event tookd place after groups of fans of the Boca Juniors soccer team rallied at Argentina’s national monument, the Obelisk, in Buenos Aires City yesterday, a demonstration that resulted in violence, dozens of injured and clashes with riot police.
