Gov't to ease controls on dollar purchases

Argentineans will have more greenbacks available to travel abroad as the government is expected to double or even triplicate the purchase limit, in a move that might start to ease official currency controls.

The decision comes after the Cristina Fernández de Kirchner administration announced earlier this month it was taking the 20 percent tax on credit and debit card purchases abroad to 35 percent in an attempt to protect the Central Bank international reserves.
