Gov't confirms deployment of Gendarmes to Córdoba
In his everyday brief to the press, the cabinet chief confirmed governor De la Sota contacted him to officially request the deployment of military police to the looting-struck Córdoba. Gendarmes are expected to arrive in the upcoming hours.
“I held several communications with Governor De la Sota yesterday,” Jorge Capitanich told reporters at the government house and added 400 officers will be deployed to Córdoba. The head of ministers explained the federal government plans to have 2000 gendarmes patrolling a province that has been hit by violence in the past days.
Capitanich, a former provincial governor himself, blamed this week’s serious incidents to “specific groups” and considered that “all sectors” must contribute to guarantee “social peace.”
