Court confirms Moreno's prosecution in inflation data row

A federal court today prosecuted ex Domestic Trade Secretary over “abuse of authority.”

Amid the government battle against private-sector reports that estimate double-digit inflation rates, Guillermo Moreno fined a consultant agency that contradicted official numbers issued by the INDEC statistics bureau.

The court is confirming a ruling by Federal Judge Claudio Bonadío who back in September had decided to prosecute the Kirchnerite official over abuse of authority following a lawsuit by private-sector consultant Jorge Todesca.

According to judge Bonadío, Moreno proceeded “illegally” and “arbitrarily” in sanctioning Todesca’s company as well as other consulting agencies.
